Leslie Sundby



Leslie completed her BSN at University of Victoria and her MN at University of Alberta in Edmonton, and she joined the BSN faculty as a permanent full-time faculty member in December 2001. She has previously taught nursing at College of New Caledonia in Prince George and Royal Alexandra Hospital School of Nursing in Edmonton. Leslie has taught in a variety of theory courses including Global Health Issues, Leadership, and Learning Centre. Her clinical area of specialty is Perinatal/Pediatrics and she has extensive experience in the pediatric and perinatal areas as a senior administrator, staff educator, quality improvement consultant, and bedside nurse. Leslie continues to teach perinatal and pediatric courses throughout western Canada. Leslie is currently the Chair of the BSN Program and is involved extensively in committees throughout VIU, including Senate & VIU Curriculum Committee. Leslie is also involved in international work in Nepal and India and has developed and overseen a number of international field schools taking BSN students to Nepal and Ghana, West Africa. Her current areas of passion are leadership, engaging and leading others in change, curriculum development/integration to achieve deep learning, student and faculty engagement, and international/global health.
