A career in Early Learning that started in 1989, at the Montreal Oral School for the Deaf Reverse Integration Preschool, over the years, Kim has led parent participation preschools, managed out-of-school care programs, and coordinated outdoor ed based day camp and sleep-away camp programming. A lifelong passion for the outdoors – from backyard gardening to exploring corners of Vancouver Island and Canada – has influenced Kim’s approach to early learning. 18 years of running her own centre, gave her the opportunity for hands-on, outdoor based learning and exploration alongside the children in her care, including her own two children who are now young adults on their own post-secondary learning journeys. Kim is passionate about child-led, land-based learning, that allows children to share who they are, and build relationships with the adults and children they share their spaces with.  With a love of keeping people active, Kim has also taught Activity courses in the VIU Kinesiology Department.

When not working, Kim enjoys traveling, hiking and kayaking with her husband and their golden doodle; working as an Athletics Canada Official at track meets, and cooking for family and friends. Kim is mum to two young adults and has “mom’d” numerous International teenagers through the SD68 International Student Education program.
