Liz (they/them) is Makwa dodem (Bear clan), a member of the Algonquin Nation of Pikwakanagan, and has mixed Scottish ancestry connecting to the clan Anderson.  They have been a member of the First Nations Pedagogies Network since 2021.  After graduating with a degree in education in 1997, Liz worked with learners in many settings but feels particularly called to work in ECEC settings, with Indigenous children and families, and with neuro-diverse children.  Liz’s pathways as an educator are related to social justice and decolonization, learning from the land, spirituality, creativity, gender creativity, stories, drumming, and singing.  They are currently engaged in studies at the UBC in the Master of Education in Indigenous Education program.
