Early Childhood Education Prior Learning Assessment Program
Vancouver Island University (VIU) is offering a unique Early Childhood Education Prior Learning Assessment opportunity for partially or internationally credited students, Early Child Education Assistants (ECEAs) or Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) looking to attain their British Columbia Early Childhood Educator Registry credentials. This opportunity is available to domestic and international individuals working within the early learning and childcare sector in British Columbia. Individuals participating in this program may also have the opportunity to complete a VIU ECEC credential.
Program Content
Students will complete their VIU Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) courses through prior learning assessments.
Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) involves the evaluation of knowledge and/or skills an individual may have gained through non-formal education/training or experience. Successful PLA results in the granting of academic credit by Vancouver Island University.

This ECEC PLA Program will run from January 2025 to August 2026.
